Today is the birthday of the famous Azerbaijani director Rasim Ojagov.
Press Service of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan reports that R. Ojagov was born on November 22, 1933 in Shaki, Azerbaijan. In 1951-1956, he studied at the faculty of cinematography of All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Later he graduated from the faculty of directing of Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts named after M.A.Aliyev. In 1956, he worked as a producer-operator at Azerbaijanfilm film studio and in 1973 - as a producer-director. He was the laureate of the state prizes of Azerbaijan and USSR, and People’s Artist of the Republic.
Rasim Ojagov is remembered by the people of Azerbaijan as a director, operator, screenwriter, art director and second operator. Ojagov, who participated in films and archive footage, was a film director and operator of Azerbaijan, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan SSR (1982), Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan SSR (1967) and the Chechen-Ingush ASSR (1964), laureate of the State Prize of the USSR and laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan SSR (1980).
