People`s Artist Amaliya Panahova passed away.
According to the press service of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, A.Panahova passed away at night. The professional actress had been suffering from cancer for a while.
It should be noted that the people's artist was 73 years old.
It should be recalled that A. Panahova established Baku Municipal Theater in 1992. She created more than five hundred characters in theater and cinema since 1964 until the end of her life. We can mention Tomris, Natavan, Medeya, Burla Khatun, Mehseti, Larisa, Ofelia, Linsa among them.
During her 43-year artistic career, she created 12 television and theater performances and they are currently kept in the Golden Fund of the television. We can specifically mention I. Afandiyev`s “Menim gunahim” (My fault), M. Murad`s “Tekan” (Impetus), M. Gurbanov`s “Sensiz” (Without you), O. Altunbay`s “Tomris”, A. Mammadov`s “Deli Domrul”, etc. among them.
The presidential scholar actress was a member of Milli Majlis (General Assembly) in 2000-2005.
In 2013, she defended her doctoral thesis on “The means of embodiment of the second plan in the creation of a character in the creative activity of an actor” and got the scientific title of Doctor of Art.
On June 17, 2015, she was awarded the “Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan” for her great contribution to the development of Azerbaijani culture.
The Board of Directors of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan expresses sorrow over the death of People`s Artist, Professor Amaliya Panahova, expresses deep condolences and patience to her family, relatives and fans.
