Today is the birthday of the Honored Art Worker Arif Gaziyev.
According to the press service of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Arif Latif Gaziyev was born on May 17, 1938 in Ganja city. After finishing his secondary education in Ganja, he came to Baku at the insistence of great composer Fikrat Amirov and continued his education at the Theater Institute. Arif Gaziyev had been participating in many music festivals and concerts since his childhood years. In 1956, he started working on Azerbaijani Television, was in contact with prominent artists and became the first male broadcaster on television. He then passed to the Miniature Theater acting troupe created under the television and worked for a while in the music department.
He had been through the directing school of Georgy Tovstonogov. Arif Gaziyev is the director and screenwriter of about 90 musical films. The film, he shot in 1967 based on, caused . Mugham singers performing the mugham “Shur” in the film, tried to convey the most delicate tinges of this ancient mugham to the audience.
Arif Gaziyev is the director of “Payiz Melodiyalari” (“Autumn melodies”) (1974), “Sheher uzerinde mahni” (“Song over the city”) (1965), “Salam Zeynab” (“Hello Zeynab”) (1982), “Sevinj” (“Joy”) (1968), “Tasnif” (1969), “Toyda gorush” (“Meeting at the wedding”), “Gara Garayev” (2003), “Mashadi Ibad-94” (2005) and other films.
Arif Gaziyev founded Mugham Theater in 1988.
He is an Honored Art Worker, he was awarded the order of “Shohret” in 2008. In 2017, he was awarded the personal scholarship of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He is married. He has two daughters.
