The American film Academy has announced the nominees for the "Oscar", the most prestigious film award in the world.
Films-leaders in terms of the number of nominations:
11: "Joker"
10: "Once upon a time in... Hollywood", "The Irishman", "1917"
All three films made by Russian directors and included in the shortlists of the corresponding categories ("Beanpole" by Kantemir Balagov, "Aquarela" by Victor Kossakovsky," "He can't live without cosmos" by Konstantin Bronzit) were not included in the nominations. But the animated short film "Daughter" directed by Daria Kashcheeva, made in the Czech Republic, still got into the nominations.
Fun stuff: two short films called "Sister" and two cousins-composers Thomas and Randy Newman were included in different nominations.
The Oscar award ceremony is planned for February 9, 2020.
