Opening ceremony of Gara Garayev`s house museum was held-PHOTOS

On October 1, the opening ceremony of the house museum of the great composer Gara Garayev situated at Nizami street of the capital was held.

 

According to the press service of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the state and government officials, figures of science, culture and art attended the event.

Making speech in the ceremony, Minister of Culture Abulfaz Garayev congratulated everyone on the occasion of the opening of the house museum. He said that opening of Gara Garayev`s house museum today is a great gift for the prominent composer. Gara Garayev`s 100th anniversary is widely celebrated, a series of events are being held this year in accordance with the relevant decree of the President Ilham Aliyev. The famous composer lived in this house during his student years, he composed his first works, including “Seven Beauties” ballet herein. 

Noting that establishment of house museums of the figures of music and art in our country is the result of the state`s care for this field, chairperson of Azerbaijan Composers` Union, People`s Artist Firangiz Alizada said: “This creative center where Gara Garayev spent his youth is a sacred place. The great composer took his first steps on the road towards art herein. His students are proud of learning from such a great composer. They learned not only composing lessons, but also morality lessons from him. Gara Garayev was a very modest, intelligent person. The great composer, representing our country globally, will always live in the memories of his students.” 

Speaking about the creativity of Gara Garayev, chairperson of Azerbaijan Writers` Union, People`s Writer Anar called the great composer both artist of the past and future: “Garayev was a messenger of Azerbaijani music in the world. “Seven Beauties” ballet and other works composed by him in this house were performed in different countries around the world. Musical motifs of Albania, Vietnam, Spain and other countries were heard in his works. Gara Garayev left great marks in Azerbaijani music.”

Then Gara Garayev`s house museum was opened. The composer`s daughter Zuleykha Garayeva acquainted the participants with the house museum. 

A book and CD containing short essays dedicated to Gara Garayev`s life and creative works as well as from the series of “Azerbaijan`s outstanding personalities”, jointly published by the Ministry of Culture and the National Library were presented in the event. The scientific editor of the book, Professor Karim Tahirov, informed about the publication. 

The Rector of Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, People`s Artist, Professor Farhad Badalbeyli, People`s Artist Tofig Bakikhanov and others spoke about Gara Garayev`s high professional skills and invaluable musical compositions that he gave to the Azerbaijani musical art.       

Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Department for Humanitarian Policy Issues of the Presidential Administration, also presented Faraj Garayev, the son of the great composer, who was awarded the honorary title of “People`s Artist” by the decree of the President Ilham Aliyev, the certificate and badge of the honorary title.

The event ended with musical compositions of the composer.
