On August 2, the officials of the Ministry of Culture and prominent screen personalities came to the Alley of Honour, commemorated the memory of the National Leader, the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijan state, Heydar Aliyev, and laid a wreath at his grave.
The press service of the Cinematographers Union of the Republic of Azerbaijan reports that the memory of the outstanding ophthalmologist - scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated and flowers were laid at the monument.
It should be noted that, by the decree of National Leader Heydar Aliyev dated December 18, 2000, the professional holiday of film makers - the Day of Azerbaijan Cinema is celebrated on August 2.
Today, the Azerbaijani cinema celebrates its 120th anniversary. In accordance with the Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Azerbaijani cinema, a series of events are held throughout the country. The Azerbaijani cinema, of which we celebrated 120th anniversary this year, has played a crucial role in the cultural and spiritual life of our people, passing through its own path of development, rich in remarkable events in the past.
These days are remembered by the remarkable events for the screen personalities. On August 1, the head of state signed an Order on granting a group of screen personalities honorary titles for their contribution to the development of Azerbaijani cinema.
Today, a solemn event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Azerbaijani cinema will be held at Nizami Cinema Centre as well.
