An exhibition titled “Azerbaijani cinema in posters”, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of our national cinema was held on April 3, at the Museum Center.
According to the press service of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the exhibition was co-organized by the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Film Fund.
Executive Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers, Honored Art Worker Jamil Guliyev made a speech at the event and spoke about the importance of the exhibition. He said that up to 50 posters of screened films from the date of creation of our national cinema until today are demonstrated at the exhibition. Speaking about the reflection of new graphic design tools in the art of cinema poster since 1950, the speaker underlined that the filmmakers can present not only the imaginative thinking of the film`s production team, but also the static image of the footages to the audience through cinema posters. “Azerbaijani cinema celebrates its 120th anniversary. Our film artists painted cinema posters and prepared photomontages for various screen work being shot in all these years. We can clearly see all this when we get acquainted with the posters demonstrated at the exhibition” – J.Guliyev said.
Honored Art Worker, cinematographer Aydin Kazimzada and National Artist Arif Huseynov spoke about the history of movie posters demonstrated at the exhibition. It was noted that cinema posters, at the initial stage, make a preliminary impression about the theme of the films, director`s idea, and the ensemble of actors on the visitors. In this sense, skillfully created cinema posters can be regarded as a key factor in the promotion and popularity of films.
Then the guests got acquainted with the exhibition.
